My Frida!

Hello, this is a special post, well, maybe I’m not presenting something extraordinary particular, or new…but it’s a special post for me, cause this is about one of the artists I love most Frida Kahlo. I don’t know how many of you know her life, her troubles in love, her passions, her problems with healt. She ‘s been a woman who lived her life intensely with all its nuances, and it’s what she put in her paintings. Strong images, bright colors and Mexican folk. So this is what inspired me for this post, I took three of her paintings, and tried to reinterpret them with my own style.
Oh well, I’m forgetting to thank Mijn, for making her super post about Frida….without which I couldn’t know about this perfect skin Berta: it’s an old gift from Ys&Ys, and the owner kindly gave  it to me, but I hope she will think of selling it and make some makeup, because it is really special…(and I had to color the lips on PSP).

The first look is inspired by Frida’s famous photo ( this one http://lisawallerrogers.files.wordpress.com/2009/11/frida-on-white-bench-n-muray-1939.jpg) which has always been imitated and transformed, the one where she has flowers on her hair, typical mexican dresses, many many patterns and her selected jewelry. So I started from these elements to make this:

For the second outfit I could choose any painting, but I just had to pic one doing the counting, but this one captured my attnction because of its hidden meanings (http://www.abcgallery.com/K/kahlo/kahlo54.html): you could look at it as a common portrait, but you have to know that she made it in 1941 when her dad died, and also she had a clandestin relation with a photographer. The parrots are erotic symbols and the Hindu bearers of the love god Kama…

The third portrait ” the broken column” is something particular: she made it when her health was declining, she had to wear corsets to support her back and had to make several operations over the next decade. (http://www.abcgallery.com/K/kahlo/kahlo54.html)

I hope that this post was not boring….so, here the style cards..bye Gyo
